Sermorelin is a synthetic peptide analog of a naturally occurring portion of growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH). In research settings, it is studied primarily for its interaction with the hypothalamic-pituitary growth hormone axis and its ability to stimulate the pituitary gland’s natural production and release of growth hormone (GH). Unlike compounds that supply growth hormone directly, Sermorelin acts upstream by binding to GHRH receptors on pituitary cells. This signaling can stimulate the release of endogenous growth hormone while remaining subject to the body’s physiological regulatory mechanisms. Growth hormone subsequently influences the production of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), an important mediator involved in numerous growth, metabolic, and tissue-related processes.
